Description:

Barracuda Kayaks is owned and operated by Gordon Robinson.

The Barracuda Sea Kayak Range is Gordon’s brainchild. His experience in competitive K1 and white water kayak racing, and in the manufacture of Formula 1 power boats, F1, K1 and Whitbread racing yachts, has given him a wealth of knowledge in the construction and performance of kayaks.

His hobby of paddling the coastlines of New Zealand, including pioneering night tours out of Auckland, led to the unique concepts behind the Barracuda’s designs. The range soon proved to be a hire fleet favorite. For over eleven-years, the boats’ components have been evaluated, upgraded and refined to produce the best equipment for the job.

The result is a safe, proven, and user-friendly product.

New Zealand, famous for its outdoor environment and watersports, is the ideal testing ground for Barracuda Kayaks, rowers and surf skis. eleven years of experience and feedback from end-users, including New Zealand’s largest hire kayak operator, provides the basis for GR8 designs and technology.

GR8 Concepts makes all of Barracuda’s kayaks and is based at Silverdale, 20 minutes north of Auckland, New Zealand.
