Crunchy Kids is a four-piece hip-hop band, with a distinct sound, fusing jazz, soul, and punk. The independent, Minneapolis-based group is led by emcee/grio, Slim Chance and multi-instrumentalist/singer, Eric Mayson. The music consists of thoughtful, slice-of-life analyses, with layered jokes and soaring choruses. Their 2013 album, “Mint,” received an honorable mention from City Pages for “Best Hip-Hop Albums of 2013.” Crunchy Kids have steadily toured the Midwest, in addition to two trips with multiple shows in Austin, TX during SXSW, and a tour of Colorado in the fall of 2014. Their music has been featured on blogs internationally and their reputation locally boasts an exceptional live show. This band has had a consistent buzz for years, but anticipation for their third album, coming in 2015, has made them a group you must witness before they are on to bigger things.
